MCCC GP Training

Springs Medical is an accredited training practice for both RACGP (The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners) and ACRRM (Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine) with over 20 years experience in providing both undergraduate and postgraduate education for the next generation of General Practitioners.

We work with our Regional Training Organisation, Murray City Country Coast (MCCC) GP Training, to educate 6 to 8 GP registrars at any one time. We value the learning environment in our practice – it helps us all to learn and improve.

Why choose Springs Medical?

  • You can learn modern integrated multidisciplinary primary care. We have 8 GPs, 8 GP Registrars, an excellent primary care nursing team, allied health practitioners (physiotherapists, psychologists, podiatrist, audiologist, dietitian, remedial massage therapist) and visiting specialists plus onsite pathology services.
  • Two practice locations – Daylesford and Trentham – in Central Victoria. Both are in new, purpose built facilities and offer contrasting environments – a large multidisciplinary centre and a small intimate facility.
  • We work closely with Hepburn Health Service and our doctors are registered as Visiting Medical Officers (VMOs) at Daylesford Hospital and Daylesford / Trentham Aged Care Facilities.
  • Our senior GPs are experienced supervisors providing ongoing mentoring and support.
  • Friendly and professional practice staff, a welcoming local community – all in a beautiful rural setting in Central Victoria (only 1 ¼ hours from Melbourne).

What Do Our GP Registrars Say?

"It would be difficult to imagine a clinic more welcoming, supportive and well organised. Along with a really varied day, whether it’s urgent care, triage, teaching, procedures, clinic or aged care visits, everyone is there to support your progression. The clinic and the wonderful people of Daylesford make for a uniquely rewarding and special experience. Come and work here!"

Dr Nick Brendenkamp (GP Registrar 2020)

“Welcoming. That is how I would describe Springs Medical and the town of Daylesford. From the first day I met the team at Springs Medical I felt welcomed, supported and part of a first class team. My day is diverse. I work in clinic, the local urgent care centre and visit nursing home residents. I receive ongoing education on a weekly basis. Some teaching is shared learning, other teaching is one on one. All my supervisors are absolutely supportive and I am learning from them on a daily basis. If any registrar is interested in a demanding and rewarding position I would recommend a visit to Springs Medical.”
Dr Fortunato Mazzei (GP Registrar 2017)

“Working at Springs Medical has been a very rewarding experience so far; I feel very well supported both clinically and in managing part-time work with home and family commitments. There is always someone available to help and no question is too small. Springs Medical has a passion for teaching and instils a culture of life-long learning. The supervisors promote independence in clinical decision-making whilst being readily available for reassurance and advice. I could not have asked for a better place to work for my first GP term.”
Dr Haylee Ware (GP Registrar 2017)

“Working at Springs has been the best Medical job I have had. The team is supportive, the townspeople are lovely, and the environment is first-class. If you are wondering if this Centre might suit you, the answer is almost certainly yes.”
Dr Natalie Barrington (GP Registrar 2017)
